The Japanese Culture Club of Arizona (JCCA) is a nonprofit organization with a mission of educating the public regarding Japanese culture and economic ties through goodwill. We organize events and social gatherings that promote Japanese culture and business. Examples include food and cooking workshops, business networking, traditional ceremonies, handicrafts, calligraphy, ikebana, music, film, Japanese baseball and other arts unique to Japan. We aim to serve as a bridge across cultures, leading our members toward a deeper appreciation and understanding of Japanese culture through our club activities.

Founded in 2008, the Japanese Culture Club of Arizona (JCCA) began as a small grassroots movement with a heartfelt mission to share the beauty, depth, and diversity of Japanese culture with the people of Arizona. What started with a few passionate individuals hosting informal cultural gatherings has grown into a thriving community organization recognized for its authentic and engaging programs.

We are an entirely volunteer-led organization, powered by individuals who dedicate their time, skills, and passion to cultural exchange. None of our team members are paid; every event, workshop, and festival is made possible through the goodwill, commitment, and collaboration of volunteers who believe deeply in the value of building bridges between Japan and Arizona. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds—Japanese nationals, Japanese Americans, and Arizona residents who have fallen in love with Japan’s traditions, and they work together with a shared vision of creating meaningful connections through the arts.

Over the past decade and a half, JCCA has introduced countless Arizonans to traditional and modern Japanese culture, from kimono fashion, ikebana (flower arrangement), and shodo (calligraphy) to Japanese music, film, and culinary arts. Through partnerships with local organizations, libraries, museums, and community centers, we strive to make Japanese culture accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background.

Our flagship event, the Japanese Film Festival Arizona, exemplifies our mission of celebrating artistic excellence, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and strengthening friendships between Japan and the Arizona community.

Since its founding, the Japanese Culture Club of Arizona has stood as a testament to the power of volunteerism, creativity, and cultural unity, bringing people together through shared appreciation of Japan’s enduring artistic and cultural spirit.
